“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”

The next generation in commercial aviation’s consulting model

Artfully extracting relevant insights from the science of modeling and data analysis

Welcome To The Research Lab

True to our mission, The Swelbar-Zhong Consultancy is: A Commercial Aviation Economic Analysis and Research Firm.  It is our research of the underlying economics of the commercial airline industry that sets us apart.  Simply put, The Swelbar-Zhong Consultancy does not fit into any one procurement box.

The marketplace seeks access to the firm’s research and analysis.  To ease that access, we are creating The Swelbar-Zhong Commercial Aviation Research Lab under the umbrella of the consultancy.  The Lab offers memberships to a broad spectrum of commercial aviation stakeholders.

In a world where the business landed in a pandemic and is trying to depart in a badly damaged economy, consulting budgets are constrained at a time when internal staff is forced to do more with less. Therefore, consulting arrangements need to be retooled to reflect your operating/budget environment.

Today, more than ever, the commercial air transportation business must be closely monitored as changes occur daily. Consideration must also be given to the interdependencies of the many stakeholders in the respective value chains that are reliant on the industry.

Connecting the underlying economic dots of commercial aviation requires an analytical mix of art and science. The mix ultimately requires a need to communicate findings to audiences with disparate stakeholders.  That is what we do.

The marketplace seeks access to our research and analysis but struggles to find the right procurement box for Swelbar-Zhong’s services.  To ease that constraint, get to know The Swelbar-Zhong Commercial Aviation Research Lab (CARL) under the umbrella of our consultancy.

Memberships to CARL fall under a broad spectrum of commercial aviation stakeholders in search of alternative thinking before finalizing major decisions.  For many we are a third-party opinion. For others, we are the consultant’s consultant.

The Internal Rate Of
Return On Your Investment

Calculating returns are also both art and science.  Your internal rate of return on becoming a member of CARL is not just about what you get in the direct return above, but also who in your organization will benefit.  Over the past two decades, William Swelbar has often been asked to speak/present to stakeholder groups in the boardroom or out in the community.  Should members of the lab request something similar, Swelbar-Zhong will reduce by 50% the time and expense associated with preparation for the event.

The investment in a membership to CARL should not be measured as an individual’s return.  Rather it should prove to be a return for the entire organization whether it be the CEO, Finance, Operations, Communications or Marketing.  Our fact-based, quantitative approach will identify trends in the industry; explain how those trends affect your demand drivers; provide context for the organization’s performance to the many stakeholders in your space; and to explain how trends may help shape a strategy or a re-think on a current strategy.
