NEW ACRONYMS
The first reference to TSA numbers on the rise today was from Ted Reed at Forbes. His title: Has U.S. Airline Traffic Started To Rebound? Of course, A4A Chief Economist #JohnHeimlich, commented correctly and succinctly: "It has not. Still down 94-96% and will fluctuate for awhile. As I have always said, a few days or weeks does not a trend make".
Thinking that the recent TSA data uptick might be better interpreted as SAAD, or Seasonally Adjusted Anemic Demand. Until the TSA data is 35-40% less, should we even begin to get excited? We all want something positive to say to clients about the environment.
On a day when COVID-19 deaths are forecast to double? When will the consumer be confident? It will be uneven.
A cottage industry exists that supports airports in making business cases to airlines to retain, enhance and improve a community's commercial air service. It's acronym is ASD, or Air Service Development.
A suggested change in the acronym to ASR, or Air Service Retention, was offered by #MikeBoyd today in his column. In an interview earlier this week with Skift, that is not yet published, I also offered ASR, or Air Service Re-development. Either are interchangeable.
Re-draw the map. Re-think the approach.
